How To Install A Motherboard

Monday, March 31st, 2008

(Important make sure you read through this guide before you begin installation of your new motherboard.)

The motherboard is the largest and one of the most important components of your computer. It’s reliability and health is utmost important.

Once you have picked out and purchased your motherboard you are ready for installation.

Carefully remove the motherboard from the box, do not remove it out of the ESD (electro static discharge) bag. Do a quick inventory to make sure you have all of your parts. Most likely you should have all of you IDE cables for the hard drive and cdrom, and possibly I/O plate. If you purchased a motherboard that support ATA hard drives you should have those cables.

Once you have verified that you have all the parts, pick up the user manual, and read through it, you don’t have to read it from cover to cover but you want to familiarize yourself with the motherboard, in addition many motherboard manufactures will also include a quick installation guide so take a look at that also.

Now you are ready, your work area should be clean and static free. Put on your anti static wrist band, if you have one. A anti static wrist band is just basically a cloth wrist band that has a snap on stretchable cable that is grounded, the grounded surface area helps keep electrostatic discharge in control.

Remove the motherboard from the box and all of the parts. Then remove the motherboard from ESD bag and lay it inside the empty box. Cut open your ESD bag on each side and turn it inside out so that you can lay your motherboard inside of it. Just laying your new motherboard on top of your ESD bag is not enough protection from electro static discharge.

Prepare your computer chassis. If you have already installed and mounted your power supply, tie the power cords out of your way with some wire ties, or some Velcro. You need a clear path from the opening of your chassis to the bottom of your chassis, where your motherboard will be mounted.

Something’s you need to think about before you drop your new motherboard into your chassis is, cooling. Depending on what type of processor you have purchased, the processor may run hot. So you have to think about good ventilation for your chassis. Heat can destroy your new investment in a matter of hours. If you do not already have at least two exhaust fans on your chassis you may have to think about actually cutting a hole either at the top of your chassis or on the side to mount the exhaust fans. Ok pick your jaw off the ground; it’s not as bad as it sounds. If you have a dremel with a cutting blade it can be very easy. Use an old CD as a template and draw around the CD with a washable marker. Then just follow the line with your dremel. Now you don’t have to do this, you can buy a chassis with plenty of exhaust fans already installed, so that is something to consider when you are in the process of buying all of your parts.

Now let’s get back to installing your new motherboard. Once you have a clear path to the bottom of your computer chassis, make sure that you have your bag of screws handy, and a long neck Philips screw driver. Take a look at the motherboard mounts, they are installed inside your chassis, these are the mounts that you will align with the holes on the motherboard. If you do not have any mounts you will have to installed them your self. The hardware should have come with your chassis if your chassis is new; if not make sure you save your screws, when you remove your old mother board.

Remove the old I/O plate and install the new one, take a look at the manual for reference. Make sure that it is secure. Look at the mounts that are on the bottom of your, chassis you want to make sure that you line up the mounts with the holes that are drilled on your mother board. (Important DO NOT DRILL ANY HOLES IN YOUR MOTHERBOARD) Angle the motherboard so that I/O ports will match with the holes on the I/O plate. There is a good chance that you might need to remove the break away pieces of metal the cover some I/O holes on the I/O plate. It is a good idea to check for proper match before installing the mother board.

As you angle the motherboard towards the I/O plates make sure that mounting holes on the motherboard are lining up with the mounts on the chassis. Gently push the motherboard towards the back of the chassis so that the I/O ports are snug against the I/O plate, and that all of the ports are protruding all the way out.

Once you have the motherboard correctly align with the I/O plate you are ready to mount the motherboard to the chassis with the screws provided. Tighten each screw down so that they are snug; do not over tighten the screws.

Use the manual as your guide and connect the power LED, speaker, reset switch ECT, coming off of the chassis to the F_panel (Front Panel) of your motherboard. Since each motherboard will be slightly different make sure to refer to the manual for exact instruction.

Ok well there you have it. You just installed your new motherboard. Need more information on motherboards, and motherboard form factor like the AT or ATX head on over www.amecomputers.com/form-factor-motherboards.htm http://www.amecomputers.com/form-factor-motherboards.htm

E-coupons

Monday, March 31st, 2008

Online coupons, often called e-coupons, are offered by both online and offline stores. For online stores, e-coupons provide discounts to customers who buy product contained in the Web site. Offline stores, on the other hand, utilize printable e-coupons for use at the real-world stores. These e-coupons must be printed by the customer and then physically brought to the store.

E-coupons provide several advantages for both the buyer and seller. Since customers rarely tend to use e-coupons unless the merchandise is needed, it is generally not necessary for sellers to advertise coupons in newspapers and magazines. Typically the demand for these products is not constant and customers tend to look for e-coupons only when they need to purchase the product. From the seller’s perspective, e-coupons serve as near-permanent advertisements for their products. Since they are not subject to publishing schedules or costs, and are easily changed as needed, e-coupons represent a low-cost and highly flexible solution for businesses. E-coupons can be offered around the clock, every single day for as long as desired. It’s also possible for sellers to offer their e-coupons to a specific target market. The customer’s online contact details like email or Web sites can be used to send the offer. Since, like ordinary published coupons, e-coupons have an expiry date the business can set those dates such that there is no pressure to honor all the e-coupons.

A bit advantage to buying from an online store using e-coupons is that the customer can dispense with the hassle of clipping and saving coupons. All that is required now is a simple click of the mouse on the e-coupons section of the Web site.

E-coupons are a great way for sellers to do business on the Internet, promote their products and generate demand for them. It can help businesses keep their Web sites and offline shops supplied with a steady flow of online customers. Many businesses offer e-coupons on a daily basis through their Web sites. Businesses in this case will offer discounts through e-coupons on different products each day. E-coupons also serve to increase the number of new customers coming to offline stores with printed coupons to redeem the discount on products. Seasonal e-coupons, offered at times such as Christmas or Halloween, are also quite common. E-coupons are offered on virtually every imaginable item, including those that people use daily such as toiletries, groceries and household products.

E-coupons help advertise the products of a business online. They represent a powerful marketing venue to help businesses use the Internet to increase their sales by reaching a wider range of customers.

Before investing in High Yield Investment Programs there are several aspects to take into consideration. Here’s a list of the most important ones:

? Always get some knowledge about the High Yield Investment industry before making a decision to invest your money in High Yield Investment Programs. A good advice is to read every page of this website before doing anything else. As mentioned before, when done right, High Yield Investments are extremely profitable, but without knowing the industry and which programs to invest in you’ll most likely lose your money. Knowledge is one of the major keys to success in the HYIP arena.

? Think about what your reasons for investing are. Are you looking at it as a solution to your financial problems you shouldn’t even think about it. As mentioned several times on this website, High Yield Investments are risky, and if you’re unlucky enough you could eventually end up without any money at all.

? Always think over your financial situation before taking the step to invest in HYIPs. Never invest more than you could afford to lose.? Are you a gambler or more careful? Even if High Yield Investing is much like gambling there are options that seem to be safer than other. Decide how big risks you are willing to take.

? If you’ve made the decision to start investing, find a few programs that you believe in, and invest in all of them. Diversifying your investment on several programs will reduce the risks and you won’t lose everything if one program goes out of business.

? Before investing in a specific program, do some research on it. Does the website look professional? Do they provide any contact information? Where are they based? Check this out before making a final decision.

? Always check what the rules are regarding withdrawals before investing in program. Some programs let you withdraw your money whenever you want. Others keep your money locked for months.

The Importance of Content for SEO

Monday, March 31st, 2008

Often times we get so caught up in marketing our site and making it aesthetically pleasing, we forget one of, if not THE most important part of SEO. Content. The search engines can not see pictures, so the only way to tell them what your site is all about is to provide that information to them via text. But why is it so difficult to put text on our sites?

During the creation of a site, we often care more about how it looks than how it functions. Flash, in my opinion, can be used to create some of the most beautiful sites out there. We get so drawn into making nice layouts with neat animations, we completely neglect the fact that we are building a site for the world, not just us.

The content on your site should actually be the first thing you think of when optimizing it. You need to convey to the search engines that your site is worthy of ranking, and that you are here to offer something to the masses. I often give this advice to customers, and get a great deal of fearful feedback. I hear a lot of I don’t even know what to write. Well, your site is an extension of your business/service/whatever, and as such you are likely to be well versed in that area. But I think people get caught up in the idea that the text is going to be placed on the site, promoting the attention to variables such as what font to use, what color, how it will look, etc.

The best advice that I can give in reference to thinking of text, is to close your site, use notepad (not Word. This creates problems when deciding to copy and paste), or a pen and paper (these do exist you know), and just put your thoughts to reality. Just write. Write about your business, yourself, your products, the history of your company, whatever. Just write. Before you know it, you will have well over 800 words of cryptic information all about your industry. As I write this, I am not thinking about my blog or my site, but only what I am trying to convey to you, the reader. Once you have all that information, organize it. Make it mean something, and make sense. Given enough thought, it will not be too difficult to come up with at least 500 words, which is a good amount of text to be placed on a website.

Once the content is on the site, you can obviously tweak it here and there to make proper use of your search terms (this will most likely happen anyway. You are writing on or about the same subject as your site, right?). And once that is done, you can then figure out what the layout, spacing, font, and all the other wonderful cosmetics the online world can offer will be.

As with all things online, this is easier written than done. But try this method out and see if it helps. To me, writing is my very weakest point, and this helps a great deal. Content is so very important to search engine optimization, and should be treated as such.

Choosing the Right Motorcycle Leathers: a Buyer’s Guide To Leather Motorcycle Apparel

Monday, March 31st, 2008

When pondering the purchase of motorcycle leathers, there are several issues that one must consider. While one would think that style would be first and foremost, in actuality, it is the protection that a good set of motorcycle leathers affords the skin that is of the utmost priority for any serious biker. Leather has over the years been proven to be the best material for motorcycle clothing, due to its resistance to tear, its natural warmth, and its acting as a first layer of defense by coming between the biker and the rough asphalt road. Leather has often literally saved the skin of many bikers.

However, all leather is not the same. In this article, I will attempt to address the choices that a biker faces when purchasing motorcycle leathers. We will explore the different types of hides available, the different tanning processes, and how to tell the differences.

There are basically three hides that you will run across when looking for motorcycle leathers: Pigskin, Buffalo, and Cowhide. You may at times find such hides as Lamb skin, sheepskin etc. Just make a note that these hides are inferior and should not be considered riding grade leather.

Pigskin

Sometimes called “Soft Leather”, pigskin is very thick and soft to the touch. It will keep you warm in the winter and looks very nice. There is nothing wrong with soft leather (pigskin or lambs skin) except that it has a tendency to tear, is not very durable, and is not considered riding grade leather. If you are looking for the “Biker Look” but do not ride, Pigskin is the way to go! Also, for garments that are not necessarily worn for protection, (such as leather vests) pigskin and lambs skin are excellent choices due to their suppleness and pliability. There are many fine styles available in soft leather and it is the least expensive leather out there. If you ride, stay away from Pigskin for protection; spend the extra money to protect yourself with some true riding grade motorcycle leathers.

Buffalo Hide

Another high quality leather, Buffalo Hide is not from the North American Buffalo, but the Water Buffalo, a native of India and Pakistan. Many leather products come from this part of the world, and the Pakistanis are world renown for their expertise in the manufacturing of leather garments. Buffalo hide is also very thick (ca 1.2mm) and can be tanned in both top grain and naked leather processes. Durable and not easily torn, Buffalo Hide, though not as common as cowhide, is considered to be riding grade leather.

Cowhide

The most common material used for motorcycle leathers is Cowhide, chosen for its strength and durability. It is anywhere from 1-1.3mm thick, depending on the tanning process, is naturally warm, and will afford the utmost protection against road rash. The ultimate in riding grade leather, Cowhide is the choice of Bikers everywhere.

Whichever type of hide you choose, you need to also understand the tanning process, and how it adds or detracts from the quality of the leather. Leather was once the skin of an animal, and therefore must go through a tanning process to strengthen it, and to keep it from decomposing. Tanning makes the skin stable and rot proof without sacrificing its structure and strength. The tanning process involves several stages, including the removal of the hair and the outer layer of skin, as well as the fatty part of the flesh. The hide is then stabilized by one of several methods using animal oils, alum, chrome salts or vegetable tanning. How it is actually finished determines the quality, or riding grade, for our purposes.

To fully understand choices available, one must first understand the term “grain”. The grain is the epidermis, or outer layer of the animal’s skin. While imperfections such as cuts, scars, and scratches will exist, the grain in its natural state has the best fiber strength, and therefore the best durability. The grain also has natural breathability, resulting in greater comfort to the wearer.

Finished Split Leather

The middle or lower section of a hide that has been split into two or more thicknesses. A polymer coating is applied and embossed to mimic grain leather. Finished splits should only be used in low stress applications because they basically have no grain. If the polymer coating is left out it is often used to make suede. Not considered to be riding grade, but can look good nevertheless.

Top Grain Leather

Top grain leather has been sanded to remove scars and imperfections, then sprayed or pasted for a uniform look. The smooth side is where the hair and the natural grain used to be. Top grain is probably the most common material found in motorcycle leathers. It is not the best leather available, but with a medium price range, and thicknesses of 1 to1.2mm, top grain leather is considered to be a strong and durable riding grade material.

Naked Leather

Also known as Full-Grain Leather, this tanning process uses only the finest of hand picked hides. Full Grain leather has only the hair removed and is not sanded to remove imperfections, thus the epidermis remains in tact. Naked (without embellishment) Leather has nothing other than the dye added. Full grain naked leather requires no breaking in period and is soft to the touch from the very beginning. Hides are typically 1.3+mm thick, and must be hand picked for uniformity. The natural full-grain naked leather will wear better than other leather, and will actually improve over the years. This type of leather is the ultimate riding grade; the most sought after, and consequently, the most expensive.

How to Tell the Difference

Finished Split will be thin. Most riding grade leather is at least 1mm thick. Top Grain leather is the top of the skin and has small bumps all over where the hair follicles used to be. Top grain garments are somewhat stiff when new, and require a breaking in period. On the other hand, naked leather, or full grain leather is very smooth and does not exhibit the small bumps that are present in top grain. Nor is the garment stiff when new. Naked leather is soft to the touch from the beginning and requires no breaking in period.

Pigskin or Pig Napa most resembles naked leather, in that it is a soft and supple hide, and can also be very thick. Not to say that it happens often, but beware of unscrupulous retailers that try to pass pigskin for full grain cowhide. If it’s cheap, it’s probably pigskin. Lamb skin is also very soft and pliable, though not as thick as pigskin. Lambskin also has a smooth surface.

Things to keep in mind are that most leather garments are manufactured overseas in India, Pakistan, and China. The “Made in America” garments are going to be the most expensive on the market, and the quality of the hide and the workmanship is not going to be that much better. Many motorcycle leathers are designed in America and made in Pakistan. As mentioned previously, Pakistan is world renown for its leather expertise, and you should be able to trust their labeling. Pakistan exports both Buffalo hide and Cowhide garments. Leather garments manufactured in China are usually made from pigskin. This is not to say that it’s always the case, but you should be able to tell by price.

Remember, if you ride - Don’t skimp on the Motorcycle Leathers, they could someday save your hide!

North Korea: A Nuclear Player

Monday, March 31st, 2008

The days of a non-nuclear Korean peninsula are over. With troops from the United States bogged down in Iraq and ineffective multilateral talks with North Korea, the world is on track for another major disaster.

So, what can be done to confront this nuclear threat?

The current situation can not be addressed by the United States alone. It is my fear that the Republican majority in all branches of U.S. government will continue with the typical and ineffective go-it-alone strategy that has not won us the key support needed in protect our international interests. The international community is the only body capable of effectively handling the North Korean situation which has now developed into a global problem.

Global issues need to be met by the global community. This does not mean that the United States can not lead the way. Obviously, there will always be the need for someone to take the initiative, but it has to be done in a way that does not isolate us from the other global players and delay effective resolution.

First, in a global economy, it is necessary for voters in the upcoming election to cast their votes to bring a more Democratic balance into the make-up of our current govenment. Democrats would be more effective in diplomacy and can speak the international tongue. Whether you agree with their policies and beliefs or not, they are more likely to restore trust and a sense of humanity to our foreign agenda.

Second, if the international community is the channel of tough sanctions, China is the key. The country of China is an emerging dominate player in the Asian region and is also responsible for trade that equates to roughly 50% of North Korea’s energy and food imports. If China does not accept its new international role in a responsible fashion, then the world will continue in its struggle to suppress renegade dictatorships.

Finally, North Korea has already been warned in their efforts to develop nuclear capabilities, but apparently decided not to listen. I believe we should impose the toughest of sanctions and work with our allies to allow for massive refugee transportation out of North Korea. At this point, deadlines should be drawn up for an international force to work together in removing this dictator from power if president Kim Jong-il does not comply and agree to dismantle his nuclear program.

If you do not believe that a solution similar to the one I have just discussed then I would invite you to focus more on the consequences of not taking action. Iran is watching world events very carefully right now. If they seek weak international resolve and come away from this scenario with the conclusion that North Korea has in fact strengthened its global position, then what is to stop them from developing nuclear weapons? Iran would probably target Israel and North Korea would likely make a hit on South Korea.

In regards to a potential North Korean attack on South Korea, we already know that underground tunnels have been discovered to be dug deep into South Korean territory. The scary thing to note is that millions of people live in the capital of Seoul, South Korea, which is not very from the border with the north. If it is already assumed that some tunnels have not yet been discovered, what is to stop North Korea from detonating a nuclear weapon right under the heels of a major South Korean city such as Seoul? This would cause millions of people to suffer a horrific death. Another possibility to ponder is North Korea’s capability to transport weapons of mass destruction to our enemies whether it is Al Qaeda, Iran, Syria, etc.

Right now, the United States needs to continue its focus on immediate action in line with the international community, while at the same time researching preventative technologies that could strengthen our defenses within our own national borders. We have been warned, not the next question is whether or not we have what it takes to lead the international community and finally get something right.

Can You Pass This Health Test? Part 1

Monday, March 31st, 2008

1. If I cut a cantaloupe in two and eat one half and the other half I put it back in the refrigerator for 2 or 3 days, when I go back to eat it will it have the same amount of Vitamin C as the first half I ate? (a) Yes or (b) No.

2. Is cooking in aluminum pots healthy? (a) Yes or (b) No.

3. Should I avoid the sun at all costs? (a) Yes or (b) No.

4. Which of these types of milk is healthier? (a) raw milk, (b) hot milk, (c) pasteurized whole milk, (d) fat free milk

5. If I’m going to use sugar, which one of these should I use? (a) powdered sugar, (b) white sugar, (c) raw sugar, (d) refined brown sugar.

Answers:

1. NO!!! The Vitamin C content of fruits and vegetables is lost at an extremely fast rate once the vegetable fibers have been cut or bruised. It is destroyed by the oxygen it comes in contact with as well as with the heat if it is cooked, the cold if it is frozen for more than 2 months and even the water depletes the Vitamin C from fruits and vegetables because it is a water soluble vitamin.

In order to preserve the Vitamin C content of your fruits and vegetables you should eat them as soon as you cut them. If the weather is too hot store them in the refrigerator until ready to eat. If you are preparing a dish try to do it right before serving and cut the fruits into larger pieces, which will preserve more of the vitamin. If you are cooking vegetables high in Vitamin C, like broccoli or green peppers, the best way to preserve the Vitamin C is to steam them or cook them in as little water as possible and for the shortest time.
Also, cast iron pans destroy Vitamin C.

2. No. Aluminum has by products that are extremely dangerous. One of these is alum which acts as an irritant, particularly on the stomach. This in turn causes disturbances of the digestion and eliminative functions of the body. Aluminum acetate, another by product, is a standard embalming fluid, and yet, aluminum acetate is precisely what is manufactured when vinegar is placed in an aluminum pot. The combination of aluminum acetate and aluminum chloride, which is easily formed by adding salt to the vinegar in an aluminum utensil, is a deadly disinfectant.

When we cook in aluminum pots, a considerable amount of this metal enters directly into our blood stream and is carried to all the organs of our body. The poisonous effects pile up day after day as we eat more and more food prepared this way. While each day’s amount may be small, the total can be extremely dangerous to our health, progressively affecting our reproductive system, nervous system, blood stream and heart. So, do not cook in aluminum pots!

3. No. The sun is a wonderful source of energy and health, although could be a dangerous and harmful force when not dealt with intelligently. Over exposure to the sun can lead to painful, even fatal burns, skin cracks, bleeding, headaches, dizziness, and nervous disorders.

Here are some tips to help you gain all the positive benefits the sun has to offer: (1) Man was not meant to lie directly under the rays of the sun. Not merely because such direct exposure can be harmful, but also because the healing qualities of the sun can best be found when combined with the plant life around us. Try to take your sunlight through the trees or cover yourself with moistened leaves. (2) Don’t bath immediately before sunning or you wont be able to absorb adequately the Vitamin D, since the skin oils are what helps you derive this vitamin from the sun. (3) No more than half an hour of sunlight at any one time is capable of being absorbed and used by the body. (4) A suntan is actually nature’s safety device, which filters the harmful rays of too much sun. This does not mean to avoid the sun entirely. To gain the power of the sun, you must feel its warmth.

4. Raw milk. The process of pasteurizing milk not only kills disease germs, but it also destroys the bacteria which sour milk, just as Pasteur originally destroyed the microbes which turned wine to vinegar. Thus, pasteurizing milk helps maintain it fresh for more days, that is actually its main benefit. Pasteurization would not confuse most people as to its value if it had a more obvious name like boiling. Most people know what boiling does to food values. Vitamins are devitalized or totally destroyed by boiling. In particular, vitamin C is sensitive to heat and much of this vitamin is lost through pasteurization. In addition to its lower vitamin content, cooked milk is far less easy to digest than raw milk. For this reason many doctors prescribe raw milk for sensitive young stomachs.

5. Raw sugar. Natural or raw sugar, as opposed to the common white stuff used everywhere, is a good food. Sucked directly from the cane, it is a delightful food and you are missing something if you have never tasted sugar cane. The raw sugar extracted from the cane is a brown, pebbly substance that contains many natural minerals of value to the body. White sugar, granulated, powdered or even the refined brown sugar, which is not to be confused with the raw product, has no value to the human body other than the calories with which it supplies us. Since all foods that are high in caloric content and low in other nutrients, minerals and vitamins, are almost useless to us, it would be best to eliminate processed sugar from the diet altogether. Also, honey and molasses are also fine substitutes for refined sugar.

Key Steps for Removing Stains

Monday, March 31st, 2008

Removing stains could be a tough and frustrating job. Before you work on a stain, you need to know the stain type and fabric type. Read these simple stain removal rules to know more.

1. Remove stains as soon as possible. Removing a fresh stain is much easier than an old one.

2. Instructions are written for a reason. Make sure you follow the instructions on the stain removal products you use. Also, follow the instructions on the washing labels on the clothes. Instructions help you to avoid ruining the clothes.

3. Remember to test any stain remover on a hidden place first. Make sure you will not have color fastness problems before using the product on larger areas.

4. When working on a stain, apply the stain treatment on the back of the garment. Put a clean white cloth under the stained part. Change the place of the clean cloth under the stain while garment soaks up the removal product.

5. Bleaching usually works on white fabrics. However, bleaching one tiny stain on color fabrics can result in an uneven color patch. Check the washing label before you consider using bleach.

6. Everything takes time, and stain removal is no exception. It is required sometimes to repeat the treatment if stain persists. Just make sure to check if the stain is still there or not before the garment dries out. Drying only helps to fix the stains.

How to Get Rid of Stains?

There are two main types of stains: water-based stains and oil-based ones. For example, tea or coffee stains are water-based. Most food stains are also considered as water-based. Oil-based stains include cooking oil, butter and grease stains. Other stains such as paint and lipstick are classified as solvent-based. Make sure you identify the kind of stain you have, and use the correct stain removal product for it.

Oil-Based Stains

The key to remove grease and oil stains is to wash clothes in the hottest water that is safe for the fabric. Gently rub liquid stain remover into the stain and let stand for 1 to 3 minutes. A citrus solvent based liquid stain remover, helps break down tough stains, leaving the clothes smelling fresh. Wash in hot water as indicated on the garment tag. If stain persists, re-apply and re-wash.

Water-Based Stains

Remove the stain excess with a clean cloth. Get a natural solvent to dissolve water-based stains it works well even in cold water. This kind of product will not cause fabrics to shrink or fade. Apply the stain remover spray to the soiled part, and allow it to sit for 1 to 3 minutes. If the stain is removed, wash as recommended. For tough stains, repeat the treatment and wash before drying.

Stain Removal from Non-Washable Clothing

To remove stains from non-washable clothing, sponge to remove any excess. Remove the stain by using a product made especially for dry cleanable clothes , while placing a clean cloth under the stained area. When cleaning the stain, work from outside to the center, to avoid the clean part from leaving a mark.

Coarse Fishing - Get Started

Sunday, March 30th, 2008

Have you always wanted to try coarse fishing but didn’t know where to start? This handy guide will give you a push in the right direction.

Coarse fishing is advanced freshwater fishing, catching fish such as bream, roach, carp and tench. Coarse anglers can be found on canal and river banks and at public and private lakes with stocks of fish like these. Whilst a lot of the tackle and angling jargon can be quite daunting, it’s worth persevering and talking to seasoned anglers to find out what the attractions are and to get some useful hints and tips.

1. The tackle shop

The best place to start is your local tackle shop. The staff there will have a really useful knowledge of all the equipment that a new coarse fisher may need, and they’ll also be able to point you in the right direction of clubs or lakes that welcome beginners, or who may even hold beginners’ sessions to help get you started.

2. The internet

The internet is a fantastic source of information, and you can find out pretty much everything you need to know about coarse fishing by spending a bit of time browsing websites. Whether you’re looking at a dedicated coarse fishing site, you’re reading information on lake, river or canal fishing, or following a blog that’s posted by a keen angler, you’ll be able to find the answer to pretty much any question you have. Use the web to gather information so that you’re well prepared when you go to the tackle shop or book a day at a coarse fishing lake.

3. Magazines

There are plenty of magazines dedicated to coarse fishing and they are a great place to find out what’s happening around the country. From tackle reviews to hints and tips for catching your dream fish, magazines are a great way of keeping in touch with the coarse fishing community.

Learn as much as you can about coarse fishing before you start, make sure you get the right equipment and ask for advice along the way, and you’re bound to be hooked in no time!
