Some Awesome Music To Listen To

Thursday, August 28th, 2008

People can now find more and more ways to find great music to listen to, and the options for how they can listen to that music are growing. The Internet is teeming with great music, which is the same stuff that is available in your local music store. Before the Internet, you had to purchase your favorite music from a music store, and quite often, you had to buy the whole album. After a few years, singles were released, but there was no guarantee that you can get the single you are after.

Nowadays, you are able to download music to listen to on a variety of different sites. You can choose the exact song you want without purchasing the entire album, but you still have to pay for it. You can choose a random variety of songs and download them to your computer. Then you simply have to burn the songs to a CD or download them into your MP3 player. Modern technology has given us more ways to get great music to listen to.

You can also store your music right in your computer. If you are craving for some music to listen to, you can listen to them through one of the many music players on your computer. You can use Windows Media Player, Real Player, or QuickTime. On the recent computer models, you don’t even need any kind of media player, you simply pop in the CD and a control panel will pop up.

If you own an older computer model, it is advisable that you listen to music when you are not doing anything else on your computer. When you open your media player, and choose your music to listen to, everything else on your old computer will drag. This may also cause your music to skip and stutter. This normally doesn’t occur with newer computers. If your music is skipping, or your computer is lagging, it usually means that you are doing too much at once.

Don’t forget that the music store is still an option when you are choosing music to listen to. It can be very easy to get your music online, but it can be also fun to buy an album. You may be interested on a single song from an album, but you haven’t heard the rest. You may find that there are many songs on that CD that you will also like. There is just something special about the experience of browsing through a music store and finding something amazing.

Diamond Jewelry Online Buying Tips

Thursday, August 28th, 2008

When it comes to diamonds, there are numerous scams to avoid. Most scams are minor, but there are some major ones that come up from time to time concerning the buying and selling of diamonds. With all of the potential for scams concerning diamonds, buying diamonds online almost seems unthinkable! However, you actually can purchase diamonds online, without any problems - as long as you are careful.

First, think about your reasons for wanting to purchase the diamond online, as opposed to making a purchase from a local jewelry store. The most common reason is price. Due to low overhead costs, online jewelers and wholesalers are able to offer lower prices. However, you must be careful - sometimes a price that is too low is a sure indication of a scam.

One of the best things about purchasing online is the unlimited selection. When shopping offline, you are limited to the selection in the stores in your general area. Online, there are no limits. But again, you must use a great deal of care and consideration before handing your money over to someone that you cannot see and have never met!

Before shopping, learn as much as you can about diamonds - especially cut, color, clarity and carat weights. When you are knowledgeable about diamonds, it will be harder for a con artist to rip you off. Once you know more about diamonds, you will be ready to start shopping.

Take your time. Don’t purchase the first diamond that you see that interests you. Instead, look for similar diamonds for sale. Do some comparison shopping to find the lowest and best offer prices. Once you have found the lowest price, start doing your detail investigation. You know about diamonds, you’ve found a diamond that you love, and you’ve found the lowest price - but you are still quite a ways away from actually purchasing that diamond!

In this respect, ask about the seller’s credentials and qualifications, such as professional jewelry associations that they belong to. View and print the seller’s return, refund, and upgrade policies. Also inquire about additional services, such as settings and mountings, sizing, and free shipping. Do a search for customer reviews on this particular company around the Internet. Also check with the BBB Online to see if there have been any complaints.

Ask for a diamond grading report from an independent laboratory such as GIA, HRD, EGL or AGS. You should see this before making a purchase. Finally, use a reputable escrow service for high dollar diamonds - preferably one that will have the diamond appraised while it is in their possession. The seller sends the diamond to the escrow service, and you send the money to pay for the diamond to the escrow service. The escrow service has the diamond appraised, sends the diamond to you, and sends the money to the seller. This is the surest way to protect yourself…again, make sure that you use a reputable escrow service!

Your Guide To Renting With A Pet

Thursday, August 28th, 2008

In the past the rental market wasn’t a very pet friendly place, but in current times there are more pet owners in the market place, so that landlords have become more negotiable. When looking for a rental property, only approach listings that allow pets when you begin your search. If this doesn’t lead to success, then and only then approach listening that do not specify that pets are welcome, and leave the “no pets allowed” listings as a last resort.

While some listings may be swayed from their “no pets” policy, most can’t be due to a previous bad experience. And even the landlords that allow pets may require proof of responsible pet ownership from you in the form of references. A letter of recommendation from your former landlords about your pet can work wonders. Include your past landlords names addresses, phone numbers, in chronological order.

Veterinary records and recommendations, including up to date vaccinations, certificates of good health (these are flea and tick control medication you use, the dogs spay/neuter status and any other positive details you may wish to include.)

If your dog has had any special training for obedience or showmanship from trainers or organizations, by all means include them in your pet resume. Be prepared to work hard finding out what makes landlords say yes to pets. you should include a picture of your pet with the resume, and never take him or her with you to the initial meeting with the landlord, unless asked to do so.

Lastly, demonstrate that you are a responsible pet owner and a good tenant. Offer to pay a pet deposit if required, preferably a refundable deposit. Provide a written statement that you will always keep your dog on a leash when outside, and that you will clean-up after your pet. If the landlord wants to meet your pet, it helps to exercise the dog well before the meeting time to release excess energy which will put him in a more calm condition.

Email Marketing Made Easy

Thursday, August 28th, 2008

The number of emails which we send and receive each day is increasing at a staggering pace. Despite this increase, many businesses are not using the full potential of emails to promote and sell their products and services.

Recently, I asked one of my team at LocalServiceGuide.com http://LocalServiceGuide.com to find a restaurant which used emails effectively as a part of their sales and marketing. It was hard, really hard.

Eventually he found an excellent example. The Landmarc Restaurant Theatre in Bournemouth runs a large number of special events. If bookings for a particular evening are slow then Josh Simons, Events Manager, checks his database of email addresses to find customers who may be interested in the event and he drops them a line - by email. The response can be almost instantaneous. A number of events which could have lost money have been saved by this simple and cost-effective approach.

It is easy to see how this approach could be used by pubs with live bands, travel agents looking for last minute bookings, a restaurant with a two for one offer and training companies with places to fill on a course.

Only minor adjustments would be needed to apply the idea to the launch of a new product or service or, as an example, for a heating engineer to offer a special price to customers who have their boiler serviced in the summer.

Now the idea of promoting these sorts of activities is not new and many companies use phone calls, direct mail and advertising to let their customers know what is on offer. The beauty of using email is that it is comparatively quick, cheap and easy to target. The following tips will help you to get started.

? Start collecting email addresses. Ask every customer and potential customer to opt-in to receive your newsletter and mailings about new products and offers. Opt-in email lists are really valuable because the recipients have said that they would like to hear from you.

? Make sure that you comply with all of the regulations relating to storing data and the use of email addresses. Key requirements in the UK include an obligation to notify the Information Commissioner’s Office that you are a Data Controller (2006 cost ?35 per year), to ensure that, where an individual has an e-mail account, you only send emails to them if they have opted in and every email you send gives the recipient the opportunity to opt-out of receiving further emails from you and each email includes your contact details. For more details go to www.ico.gov.uk http://www.ico.gov.uk . If you are outside of the UK, check on local regulations.

? If you are sending out lots of emails, you may want to use a company which specialises in bulk mailings. They can help you to manage your email campaigns.

? Apply usual marketing good practice to your email campaigns - know what you want to achieve, stress the benefits to the customer, monitor results etc.

? Don’t abandon all other forms of sales and promotions. Email marketing can be very effective but it should be used in conjunction with other promotional and sales techniques.

If you have not tried email marketing before, give it a go. Good luck!

Energy Healing for Your Sick Children, Family Members & Friends with Love

The alternative medicine of Love is a great Healer. Often times when a child is sick, a Mother doesn’t know where to turn other than to allopathic medicine. Complementary to and integrated with traditional medical treatments and procedures is love. There have been many miraculous turn arounds and healings that have been supported by a caregiver or family member who thru love have held hope and belief that the patient will get well against all the odds. A caregiver’s loving touch, prayers and contribution to a positive environment and positive attitudes can help change the course of an illness. Below are some suggestions to help facilitate healing in someone you love.

As a caregiver, you can learn ways to help your patient’s environment, which in turn contributes to their well-being. The environment that surrounds a sick person takes on the energy of those people that participate in the patient’s healing journey. It is imperative to have all those that are working towards the health of the patient to have a positive can do attitude. Even unspoken dismay and disbelief permeates the patient’s and the environment’s energy field, and contributes negative energy that cancels a positive atmosphere. Holding a positive loving attitude creates a subliminal environmental energy support system that inspires the desire to live and to have better health.

Unless medically prohibited, plants help an environment, as do cheerful colors, soothing music, prayer and laughter. Laughter therapy is rapidly gaining ground as a healing modality, like positive attitudes. Create a happy book, wall, or poster board with fun pictures to contribute to positive mental health that assists healing. The power of laughter and positive attitudes both trigger the brain to create chemicals that cause the body to create better immune system responses which is critical when combating illness.

On a physical level, a caregiver can use their love to help the patient’s health.
(Information for this exercise: you receive energy with your left hand and send energy if you are right handed, and the reverse if you are left handed.)

If you are right handed, placing your left hand on your heart and your right hand on the patient’s left hand state: Thru the Love of my heart I send you my life force energy to do with as you so choose on your healing journey. This honors the patient’s journey, whether it is being physically cured or healing thru transition. If the patient does not want this energy, honor their choice.

Another technique is to hold the ball of the patient’s feet in the palm of your hands and state: I send you my life force energy to use as you so choose, and it is my intent to remove any and all excess, unnecessary, toxic, pain and unhealthy energy and to replace that energy with the physically healing, pain free energy of the Christ White Light (or the Universe, or whatever Higher power source that you acknowledge). So be it, it is done. This helps the patient to become more balanced and stabilized. It has shown great results.

Healing and the power of healing on all levels can to be summed up in the phrase and the greatest of these is love.

Audiobooks - How They Help You And Yours

Thursday, August 28th, 2008

Audiobooks are becoming more and more popular day by day. After slow growth from the 1950s until late in the 20th century, sales took off and reached $871 million in 2005. Why is that? The many benefits of audiobooks are being discovered. Consider the following:

1) You save time, because you can listen to an audiobook while doing other things - anywhere and everywhere. While you are working around the house or at the computer, commuting to and from work, walking the dog, cycling, jogging, exercising, and so on, you can listen to your favorite book. There are endless possibilities.

According to a recent survey, in the USA a person is driving an average of 1 hour and 13 minutes daily, which means over 440 hours a year for each driver, or 11 full-time work weeks. This is huge! Imagine how many books you could enjoy and how much you could learn during this time by simply having your MP3 player with audiobooks at hand.

2) If you love reading but are short on time, audiobooks can give you the opportunity to read many more books than you otherwise could. Audiobooks are a great way to fill the dead moments we all have in our lives.

3) Audiobooks are good for older, ill or recovering people and can be wonderful gifts for those in a nursing institution. They are gifts they will remember and enjoy time after time.

4) For blind people, disabled people or people with impaired vision, audiobooks are a godsend. All of us should have the chance to experience and enjoy a book. In many cases, this is the only way for these disabled persons to do it.

Spoken books can help these people by improving their education, by helping them to develop new hobbies and habits, and greatly enriching their life, both personally and professionally.

5) Arguably, the most important, rewarding and enjoyable skill a child can ever acquire is the ability to read. It’s easy to stimulate literacy in children with audiobooks. Children can listen to books while following the story in the paper book. Their vocabulary will improve and their communication skills improve even if they just listen. If you want to instill in your child the love of reading, audiobooks can be an excellent start.

There are many other benefits of using audiobooks… and even more for downloadable audiobooks found online on many websites. But even the few reasons above should be enough to convince you to enter the exciting world of spoken books. CDs and cassettes are available at physical bookstores and online ones. Downloadable audiobooks are, of course, only available online. Many online book stores offer several free titles.

Lew Brown is a great fan of audiobooks and an Internet marketer. His website has over 5,000 downloadable audiobooks. There are special offers as well as free downloads. So visit his online store: www.audiobooksonlinehere.com http://www.audiobooksonlinehere.com

History of 60s Music

Thursday, August 28th, 2008

The decade of the 1960’s presented social and political changes that had never been seen before. In addition to this, 60s music changed the direction of popular music and Americana as a whole. This decade forever changed America, and it was the young generation, or Baby Boomers that made it happen. After World War II, there was a dramatic increase in the population. An entire generation of young men had returned to the United States and found that the entire country had been transformed from the economically depressed area they once had left, to an economic goliath. Many of them used their G.I Bills to get an education and the country was flush with new jobs. Couples were able to settle down and start a family and they did so in astonishing numbers.

It was, supposedly, the perfect existence. The nuclear family lived in comfort. The patriarch had a good job to provide for his family and the loving wife stayed at home to raise the children. The children grew up in a world that was quickly shrinking. Radio and television were becoming permanent fixtures in every home. This technology introduced the Baby Boomers to the music of the 60s. Some of the big names in early 60s music all came out of one recording studio, the Sun Record Company, based out of Memphis, Tennessee. Artists like Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis and Roy Orbison all got their start at the Sun Record Company. Many of them followed the method introduced by Presley. His music was a mixture of gospel, blues and hillbilly music. B.B. King, who is perhaps the greatest blues musician of all time, knew of Presley long before he became famous. Presley combined blues, gospel, and hillbilly music to help create a new form of music … Rock and Roll.

His first recordings were in 1953, and he made one of his first big breakthroughs in 1956 with his appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show. His style was so unique and attractive to the Baby Boomer generation that it helped to influence and direct cataclysmic changes in music genre. The Baby Boomers were the primary fans of 60s music, and their support was what drove other artists, like the Beatles, to develop a new style that would mark their generation as unique. Music is a cultural and social expression of the people, and that was never truer than in the case of 60s music. Baby Boomers’ musical choices reflected the postmodern political and social upheavals of the time, including the assassination of a president, an unpopular war, the civil and women rights movements, and the Cold War. It was the music that remains as a lasting representation of their legacy.

Meeting Your Family’s Health Needs With An HSA

Thursday, August 28th, 2008

Making sure that your family is able to stay healthy partly depends on having a good health insurance program for them. One of the more recent new additions to the health insurance industry is called the Health Savings Account (HSA). This new program enables you to have reduced insurance rates because of a higher deductible, and a tax deferred savings program with it. Here are some of the features of this program.

Reduced Rates

By getting a health insurance program with a high deductible, you are able to greatly reduce your monthly premiums. This is an especially good way to go, if you are younger and currently have pretty good health. The deductible amounts are pre-determined by the government, and you are required to have deductible amounts between $1,050 and $5,250 for singles, and it needs to be between $2,100 and $10,500 for families.

Savings Are Tax Exempt

One of the great benefits of this type of plan is that, like an IRA, you enjoy tax-free income, and interest on the amounts you have in the program. You can put into the plan money that comes off the top of your taxes. There are limits, though, and for singles it is up to $2,700, and for families it is $5,450. A little extra benefit is that you are able to take off of your taxes any money that is deposited into the account all the way up to April 15th. So, if you are coming up to tax time, and find you need to reduce your taxes some more, you can put it into your HSA, and find the tax break you need.

Better Coverage

The new HSA’s have an extra real nice feature - they cover more. Some things that you may not have been covered for under another type of policy, you may find that you are covered for with an HSA. This could actually allow you to get a better coverage for less. Things like dental coverage, therapy, even non-prescription medicines and some alternative treatments may also be covered, and even some mental illness treatments, too.

You Keep Control

Under an HSA, you are the one in control of the money. It is yours to use. You can take money out of the account when you want, but only the money that is used only for medical purposes is tax-exempt. Generally, you will be given a card, like a credit card, that gives you access to the account. Whenever you use money from the account, the insurance company automatically gets a receipt, and it is subtracted from your account, and your deductible - and it remains tax exempt.

Like any other insurance policy, once you have paid the deductible amounts, the rest is up to the insurer to pay. By having the high deductible you reduce the premiums considerably. The savings account can also provide a good hedge for your medical insurance program for the future, too, because any money not used toward the deductible remains your money - to use next year, if you need it. On the other hand, the money in your HSA might also be used to provide some money for retirement - assuming you maintain your good health.

Oh, You Are Just Spoiled Rotten!

    Thursday, August 28th, 2008

If you’ve ever called your own child spoiled rotten, you should be ashamed of yourself. Call someone else’s kid that, no problem, but not your own. Why? Because all we can see of someone else’s child is a result, and it may be disturbing. Whereas in your own case, the child is the ’spoilee’ and you are the ’spoiler’. OK, perhaps your spouse, but you both have some responsibility in it.

Your child is like a dry sponge, with thousands of little cavities waiting to be filled up. And around the child is a world bursting with candy, toys, activities, snacks, TV and computer games all eager to pounce. And who is in the middle? You, the gatekeeper. The key master. The valve.

Now, if you think about it, a sponge works so so when it is bone dry. It actually works a little better when slightly damp, but if the valve is broken, the sponge will fill to capacity quickly and become useless.

Granted, you can point a finger at your mate. He or she is the one who gives Bobby everything he wants. You’ve even argued about it from time to time, and the same thing is said every time. Come on, it’s just until 11:00 , or think of how happy it will make him , or I never got one of these when I was a kid , or OK, but just this once . Sound familiar?

Almost everyone is guilty of this lack of will power to some degree. Unfortunately, if a parent lacks will power, the child will lack even more. This will develop to the point that the child will have no reason to deny him or herself anything. The notion was never passed down from the previous generation. Exercise a little restraint, can’t ya?

OK, why should anyone deprive themselves of anything? Seems like a reasonable question. Well, for starters, if, in the extreme case, you got everything you asked for, you would never get to the point of truly wanting for something. However, without wanting something you can’t have, at least right away, you don’t set goals. And without goals you don’t get anywhere. You are simply a full, soggy, sponge.

In addition, the spoiled rotten trait delivers a one-two punch. The spoiled individual may have little concept of the value of something. And worse still, the idea of having to save up for it and buy it on their own can seem ridiculous. Then there is the issue of generosity. How often is a spoiled individual truly generous? These and more negative characteristics can be attributed to someone who is spoiled rotten.

So my point is that as the guardian of all that is innocent and pure, being your child, you have the responsibility to think about such things and teach yourself how to control that which, if left unchecked, might put your child’s life out of balance. If discussions with your spouse are called for and may cause some short term distress, better that than passing a bad apple down to your children to make them spoiled rotten.

I heard a remarkable phrase recently that I’d like to relate here. It had to do with ecology, global warming etc. We did not inherit the earth from our parents, we are borrowing it from our children . And, in a way, I see this fitting in that we are the keepers of (their) childhood so that we can give it back healthy and strong.
